WeCycle is a 9 foot diameter circular mandala art installation crafted from reclaimed materials — repurposed aluminum, cardboard packaging, single-use plastics, fabric scraps, mirror shards, and fragments of other domestic and industrial waste. Set standing vertically upright on the playa within a welded metal frame, staked into the ground, and sealed in clear resin, it shimmers by day and glows at night with embedded solar LED lights. Embodying a non-denominational medicine wheel, it honors timeless traditions of mandala making— from Tibetan and Navajo sand paintings to rose windows and cosmograms. WeCycle invites reflection on the sacred cycle of creation, destruction, and rebirth, becoming an altar to the dynamic duality between permanence and impermanence, and a living teaching of “leave no trace.”
